The 2025 National Settlement Services Summit (NS3) is being held June 16-18 at the Westin Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa. The session “Understanding Housing Demand: Consumer Data and Market Realities” will take place on June 17.
The session will feature Dr. Jessica Lautz, deputy chief economist and vice president of research at the National Association of Realtors, who will be addressing the disconnect between existing narratives of housing market distress and the actual data driving consumer behavior.
“While the housing market has been deemed unaffordable and difficult to enter, there are buyers coming in through creative methods and demand is constant,” Lautz said.
The presentation will be especially relevant to professionals interested in her analysis of what real data can tell us about the true state of the housing market.
“Many have been hyper-focused on the housing market – consumers, the media, analysts, the real estate industry – and it is important to understand fact from fiction and get the data in real time,” she said.
The myriad speculation surrounding this topic was a major motivator behind her decision to speak at NS3.
“I love sharing current and accurate data in a crowded ecosystem of mixed messages,” she added. “The sky is not actually falling. It is important to level set with the facts.”
