North Texas Real Estate Information Systems, Inc. (NTREIS), a multiple listing service (MLS) in North Texas and Northwest Louisiana, announced the appointment of industry veteran and licensed attorney René Galicia as executive vice president and general counsel. Galicia will oversee strategic operations and serve as NTREIS’s principal legal advisor.
Galicia has over 20 years of real estate industry experience, including nearly 15 years in progressive MLS leadership roles. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer of the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) where he oversaw daily operations, spearheaded member engagement, advanced thought leadership on key industry issues and delivered internal legal support and strategic guidance.
In this newly created role at NTREIS, Galicia will support strategic planning; member and shareholder engagement; technology and data governance; vendor and partnership management; compliance and risk management; and business development efforts.
“René brings a rare combination of deep MLS operational experience and legal expertise that is exactly what this moment demands,” NTREIS CEO Chris Carrillo said. “The industry is at a crossroads of policy, technology and litigation, reshaping consumer expectations in real time. René’s track record at Bright MLS, CMLS, NAR (National Association of Realtors), and CRMLS demonstrates his ability to build durable systems, modernize with purpose, and anticipate what’s next. His leadership will help us move decisively and deliver even greater value to our subscribers and shareholders.”
Before CMLS, Galicia served as executive vice president of policy counsel and strategic partnerships at Bright MLS. He led customer satisfaction efforts, major efficiency gains, and expansion via acquisitions and partnerships. Previously, he served as director of MLS engagement at NAR, and he held leadership roles at CRMLS, directing compliance and data licensing for 38 associations.
“I am honored to join NTREIS at such a pivotal moment for the MLS industry,” said Galicia said. “As a trusted partner for the North Texas and Northwest Louisiana real estate community, NTREIS has built a strong foundation, and I look forward to collaborating with Chris, the executive team, and the Board of Directors. I aim to blend operational excellence with proactive legal strategies, positioning NTREIS as a forward‑thinking leader amid evolving technology, diverse subscriber needs, while delivering exceptional value and service.”
