The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) announced that it is making enhancements to FHA Connection (FHAC) to streamline internal processes for case number assignments for units in condominium projects eligible for single-unit approval (SUA).
These enhancements, which became available in FHAC on May 26, allow automatic case number assignment for condominium projects previously registered in FHAC. Specifically, condominium projects with the status of “Expired” or “Rejected - Register SUA” will automatically receive a case number. Prior to these system updates, lenders were required to submit condominium unit information on every case number request to FHA for manual review and case number assignment.
When requesting a case number, lenders should check the FHAC condominium list to determine whether a condominium ID exists, confirm FHA concentration for eligibility and enter the condo ID (if one exists). If all required information is entered in FHAC and the condo ID reflects one of the statuses noted above, the system will automatically assign a case number, without the need to submit information to the FHA Resource Center.
SUA case number assignment requests that cannot be automatically assigned will continue to follow the manual review and assignment process by FHA staff.
Lenders are reminded that the issuance of an FHA case number for SUA processing is not an approval of the condominium unit or the condominium project.
