The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) appointed new members to its advisory committees. The committees welcoming new members are the Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council, Credit Union Advisory Council, and Academic Research Council.
“The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act charges the CFPB with establishing a Consumer Advisory Board to provide advice on a variety of consumer finance issues,” the bureau stated. “Members of the Consumer Advisory Board represent the various districts of the Federal Reserve System. Each member appointed to the Consumer Advisory Board was recommended by a president of a Federal Reserve Bank.”

Those appointed to the Community Bank Advisory Council and Credit Union Advisory Council advise on financial issues related to community banks and credit unions. New members of the Community Bank Advisory Council are Anita Drentlaw, New Market Bank CEO/president/chief financial officer; Bruce Hoyer, Belt Valley Bank CEO; Carlos Naudon, Ponce Bank and Ponce Financial Group, Inc. president and CEO; and Ignacio Urrabazo, Jr., Commerce Bank president.
The Credit Union Advisory Council welcomed Chad LaFlash, University of Wisconsin Credit Union assistant vice president of research and product strategy; Floyd Rummel, III, Northern Hills Federal Credit Union CEO; Suzanne Weinstein, Orlando Credit Union president and CEO; and Shawn Wolbert, GHS Federal Credit Union president and CEO.
The Academic Research Council provides feedback on research methodologies and collection strategies and engages in the strategic research planning process. It is comprised of Fenaba Rena Addo, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill associate professor; Itzhak Ben-David, Neil Klatskin chair in finance and real estate, The Ohio State University and National Bureau of Economic Research; P. Dean Corbae, William Sellery Truckenbrod chair in finance and professor of economics, University of Wisconsin; and Benjamin Keys, Rowan Family Foundation professor, professor of real estate, professor of finance, The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
