The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has assessed a $100 million civil money penalty against one of the largest convertible virtual currency derivatives exchanges for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. FinCEN said the alleged violations exposed financial institutions to an increased risk of conducting transactions with ransomware attackers.
