The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has published a proposed rule to amend its interpretation of the Fair Housing Act’s (FHA) disparate impact standard.
HUD officials said the proposed rule would provide more guidance on what constitutes unlawful disparate impact. But critics argue the proposed rule will make it more difficult for victims of housing discrimination to file lawsuits.
