An Indiana financial services holding company has settled a lawsuit alleging mortgage lenders intentionally avoided providing services to people living in predominantly African-American neighborhoods.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana filed a discrimination lawsuit against First Merchants Bank on June 13, alleging the bank violated the Fair Housing Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
