The biggest names in the industry gather June 18-20 at the National Settlement Services Summit (NS3) in Phoenix, with attendees getting to hear from top underwriters and lenders on stage.
The conference is expected to draw more than 750 attendees from across the real estate transaction to the Valley of the Sun and features two top-notch keynote speakers.
On Tuesday June 18, Brian Montgomery, the acting deputy secretary and FHA commissioner and assistant secretary for housing at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will kick off the day’s events with a look into the state of FHA.
On Wednesday June 19, CMG Financial founder, President and CEO Chris George will keynote the day’s events. The chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association this year, George will bring an important message of continuing to improve your craft to take anxiety out of the process for the consumer.
Montgomery, George and the rest of the attendees will be treated to what has become an annual tradition at NS3 – hearing from the top underwriters in the country, together on one stage.
This year features one new face to the Conversations with the C-Suite panel in Stewart Group President, Agency Operations, Tara Smith. She will be joined by her counterparts at Fidelity National Title Group, Steven Day, and First American Title Insurance Co., Evan Zanic, and Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. Executive Vice President, Manager, Agency Services & Administration Jeff Bluhm.
With Fidelity working to acquire Stewart, the fifth year of the Big 4 underwriter panel at NS3 could be the last to feature the four underwriters as separate companies.
But it’s not just the four largest underwriters who will be represented on stage at NS3. The conference also features an Independent Underwriter Panel, including Westcor Land Title Insurance Co. CEO Mary O’Donnell, Agents Title Insurance Co. President David Townsend, and First National Title Insurance Co. President and CEO Chris Phillips – who is making his first appearance on the NS3 stage.
The trio will address innovative trends, customer service training, knowing your customer, reinsurance, the value proposition of an independent underwriter and the qualities they look for in their independent agents.
But although NS3 features the best education for the title industry, the conference is also renowned for being At the Center of the real estate transaction. That is never more apparent than in NS3’s Fireside Chat this year, which brings together titans of the title and lending industries.
Consumer Bankers Association President and CEO Richard Hunt brings his decades of lending and banking experience to the NS3 stage for the first time, sitting down for a candid discussion with WFG National Title Insurance Co. Executive Chairman and Founder Patrick Stone in what will be a must-see session.
In addition, state and federal regulators will gather for a panel discussion on the oversight of consumer protection issues. With Garris Horn PLLC Partner Richard Horn moderating, the panel will feature Colin Hector of the Federal Trade Commission and Susan Apel of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection – both first-time speakers at NS3. They will be joined by Chuck Myers of the Virginia Bureau of Insurance on the annual regulator panel to wrap up Tuesday’s sessions.
